A man has been charged in connection with an officer-involved shooting that happened on Thursday night in downtown Roanoke, according to the Virginia State Police.

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. – UPDATE - 11:13 a.m.

The crash has been cleared.

As for what led to the crash, Virginia State Police says the truck hit a guardrail and overturned.

The driver was issued a summons for Reckless Driving, according to authorities.

All northbound lanes remain closed on I-81 in Botetourt County after a tractor-trailer overturned Friday morning, according to VDOT.

At about 1:30 a.m., the Botetourt County Department of Fire & EMS was called to the 164.3 mile marker for an overturned tractor-trailer with a driver possibly trapped inside. Authorities say the diesel tanker was carrying about 7,700 gallons of fuel and lost about 500 gallons in the crash.

We’re told the truck is now stabilized, the spread of the fuel has been contained and hazardous materials technicians and specialists are working to pump fuel off into a new trailer. Authorities report that there are no indications of the spill going into the James River.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the crash, according to Virginia State Police.

A detour is in place at exit 162 and reenters at the 167 exit.

VDOT says the crash could affect school bus operations in Botetourt County.
