With Double or Nothing in the rearview mirror we are officially entering the Summer of Punk 2022! Let’s see what we’ve got on tap for tonight:

Live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California! As always, your commentators are Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur. Without further ado, let’s get right to the action!

Dax and Austin Gunn start as Dax takes advantage early. Quick tag to Cash as FTR hit a drop toe hold and leg drop combo for a quick two. Colten Gunn in now but he gets back body dropped by Cash who follows up with a dropkick and an arm drag. Colten muscles Cash to the corner to tag in Max, as CM Punk is now the legal man. Crowd is HOT for Punk. Caster pulls Punk face-first into the middle turnbuckle but Punk reverses with a cross body off the top rope. Tag to Cash who hits a power slam from the second rope. Dax in and looking for a cover but only gets two. Caster with a back suplex as Austin Gunn is in now and clips Dax’s knee out from behind. Ass Boys with a double team dropkick/rolling neck snap combination for a close two count. Dax sends Caster and Colten to the outside and hits a back suplex on Austin. Both men are down as Dax tries to make a tag, but Punk and Cash get taken off the apron and there’s no one there for him. Caster with a hard Irish whip to Dax who takes the turnbuckle sternum first. Two count. Back elbow by Caster as Dax rolls to the outside. Caster looking for a suplex to the inside from the apron but Dax is able to get free and hit a German suplex. Caster rebounds and hits a clothesline before looking for a Sharpshooter, but Dax kicks his way out. Austin Gunn in quickly but Cash gets to Punk. Punk stumbles on a springboard clothesline but rebounds with several body slams to both Ass Boys. Awkward moments here as Punk and Colten aren’t on the same page and Punk hits a dropkick that Colten wasn’t in position for. Punk with the Savage Elbow from the top! GTS time but Billy Gunn is on the apron giving Punk the business. Colten looking for a roll up from behind but gets a two count. Punk catches Colten with a GTS. FTR is here… right into the Big Rig!

Winners: CM Punk & FTR

Rating: **1/4. This was a match on Dynamite that was used to showcase a trio of champions, and it did just that. Punk was a bit off but the excitement from the crowd really overcame all the shortcomings. The outcome was never in doubt.

Punk says he’s never done drugs, but this is probably what it feels like. Being the champion means he’s got to get better. Punk wouldn’t be here if the road to success wasn’t littered with mistakes and you can call him whatever you want, but you’ve got to call him the champ. Dax takes the mic and says all the things that Punk hasn’t done, that he has done, and that’s what it feels like. Dax’s wife and daughter are here tonight and they’re the only things that mean more to him than pro wrestling. Dax says if you’re from this company, or from another company, it doesn’t matter, they’re going to kick that ass. CM Punk wants to know who he’s got at the Forbidden Door, he knows they’re back there… who’s he got?

GO ACE. HIROSHI TANAHASHI! GO ACE. WHOOOOO.

MJF is here! MJF is in a lot of pain as per what happened on Sunday. The people want to hear MJF talk, but this is Max Freidman talking. Big merger, boss. Lot of important execs to watch your product… it would be a real shame if something bad happened. Uh oh. MJF says it’s too little too late with Tony Khan. MJF had to write his own tickets when AEW started and nobody respects him. Nobody is on MJF’s level. Everything MJF touches turns to gold and there is nothing he can’t do. MJF doesn’t hit homeruns, he hits a grand slam on a weekly basis. MJF is the only guy capable of carrying the company on his back as he’s done for months. MJF hears boos but he also hears clapping, where was the clapping when people were calling him out all weekend?

MJF says if the boys in the back want his spot they can have it, because he doesn’t want to be here anymore. MJF says the tweeting fans don’t know shit. The fans opinion’s suck. How can MJF be the best if he’s not chasing star ratings? Ask Tony Khan who’s the biggest minute for minute draw, just don’t ask him to reach into his pockets because he’s too busy paying ex-WWE guys. Tony has a position of power in a wrestling company but the only position he should have is behind the guard rail. MJF wants Tony to fire him. MJF then gets bleeped out for about thirty seconds and we go to black.

Tremendous, pipe bomb level promo from MJF. Go watch it.

Miro cut a heck of a promo before the match saying he no longer wants to be closer to his God, he wants to take over. “And he married well!” – Jim Ross. Miro isn’t here for the kickboxing as a clothesline drops Johnny. Miro with Johnny in the corner and he’s just elbowing and stomping this poor man to oblivion. Saito suplex by Miro. Vertical suplex by Miro. Make that two. KOKESHI! Two count. Johnny hits the ropes but Miro catches a cross body block and plants him. Johnny evades the pump kick and hits Miro with a roundhouse kick to the head. Shooting star press by Johnny who follows it up by missing a senton from the top. Miro hits the pump kick and it’s GAME OVAH.

Rating: *3/4. An elongated squash here which is what it needed to be. Miro is an absolute beast and the crowd was happy to have him back.

The Jericho Appreciation Society is here, and the fans don’t deserve the right to sing Judas. The fans do deserve the JAS, however. Jericho says Kingston is a psycho and was going to light him on fire. What kind of a man burns another man? Danielson is another piece of S. Moxley is going to get choked out by Garcia in the main event of Dynamite tonight. Sports entertainers always beat pro wrestlers.

Enter Eddie Kingston and William Regal.

Entire arena is chanting for Eddie! Eddie says he wants to fight every single one of them. Mr. Regal wants them to know Eddie wants them at BLOOD AND GUTS. Eddie hops right into the fire and gets jumped by all of the JAS. Jericho is back in the ring and Ortiz is here! Madball to the head of Jericho and Ortiz pulls out a pair of scissors and takes some of Jericho’s hair. Jericho is heated and agrees to the Blood and Guts match… only if Ortiz agrees to a hair vs. hair match! Jericho says he’s going to beat Ortiz. Shave Ortiz. And burn Ortiz. BECAUSE HE’S A WIZARD.

Kyle and Jungle Boy to start. Arm drag by Jungle Boy followed by a dropkick to the face of Kyle. Fish comes in and is quickly arm dragged by Jungle Boy. Christian is in now and hits a double hip toss to the Young Bucks with the help of Jungle Boy. Matt Hardy is in now but a spinning back kick from Fish allows him to take in Matt Jackson. Christian in quickly and hits a swinging DDT on Matt Jackson. Christain goes up top as Fish tries to throw him off. Jungle Boy with a running hurricanrana from the ring to the apron and the outside on Fish! Everyone is in and Darby levels Kyle with a suicide dive under the middle rope. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy with tandem moonsaults to the outside on Cutler and crew. Superkick by Nick to Christian! Matt Jackson with a baseball slide to Matt Hardy as he opens the ropes for Nick Jackson who does a twisting plancha on EVERYONE. VINTAGE BUCKS. Triple team avalanche/enziguiri combo by Fish and the Bucks, followed by a splash by Hikuleo! Two count. Frequent tags from the Undisputed Elite as Christian is the face in peril here. Christain ducks a double super kick attempt and hits a double reverse falling DDT. Christain gets to Luchasaurus who clears house on everyone. Flapjack to Matt Jackson. Double clotheslines to Nick Jackson and Kyle O’Reilly. Spinning back kick by Nick to Luchasaurus but the Dino rebounds with a tieres-driver?! Jungle Boy in with a running assisted Destroyer off Luchasaurus’ back to Matt Jackson! Choke slam by Luchasaurus to Nick Jackson followed by a moonsault! Hikuleo is in and he dwarfs Luchasaurus! Headbutt by the dinosaur as both men are down following a double clothesline. Darby and Kyle are in and Darby is coffin splashing everyone! Over the top stunner by Darby to Kyle as Darby low bridges a charging Hikuleo who LANDS ON HIS DAMN HEAD. Darby with a coffin drop from the top but Hikuleo catches him. reDRagon are there and CHASING THE DRAGON on the outside! Matt Hardy is by himself in the center of the ring with both Young Bucks. Delete turnbuckle shots to both Bucks. Now to reDRagon. Now Hikuleo but NO. Hikuleo misses a charge in the corner as Hardy hits a Twist of Fate and sends Hikuleo to the outside. Running spear by Christian off the apron! Double superkick to Matt Hardy. To Luchasaurus. To a diving Jungle Boy! BTE Trigger attempt to Jungle Boy but Matt Hardy breaks it up. Meeting of the minds between Matt Hardy and Jungle Boy. High/low by reDRagon to Matt Hardy and a Meltzer Driver to Jungle Boy! That’s all she wrote.

Winners: The Young Bucks, reDRagon, & Hikuleo

Rating: ****. This is exactly what this show needed. A 10+ minute balls to the wall sprint after a first hour that was super heavy on storyline. The Young Bucks look strong after a loss on Sunday.

After the match, Christian pushes Matt Hardy away to console Jungle Boy.

Tony Schiavone is here with Athena aka Ember Moon, who has her sights set on Jade Cagrill. TONY CUT THE SHIT. Jade is here, and she introduces her to Stokely Hathaway. Big Stoke is apparently Jade’s publicist. Jade is a queen. Jade is a goddess. Jade is our TBS champion. Before Athena can step to Jade Cargill, Red Velvet and Kiera Hogan are here. Anna Jay and Kris Statlander are here to back up Athena and we’ve got a potential showdown brewing.

Wardlow has music and a tron, which means this match will be even shorter than normal and I’d like to remind everyone JD DRAKE IS A TOTAL BADASS AND DESERVES BETTER. Drake chops him early but Wardlow responds with a clothesline. Wardlow muscles JD Drake up and hits an Alabama Slam. Powerbomb time. There’s one. JD Drake is a big fella… That’s two. That’s it.

Rating: NR. Squash. But JR tells us that Wardlow has bowled six 300 games in bowling so there’s always that.

Tony Schiavone is here with Wardlow and Mark Sterling is here now, too. Sterling sends a security official into the ring with a lawsuit for Wardlow. The security company is suing Wardlow. Wardlow has powerbombed said security official.

Toni & Britt to start. Toni takes a shot at Hayter but Britt capitalizes then ducks to the outside to flaunt her Owen Hart Foundation title. Back in the ring Toni hits a basement dropkick on Baker and makes the tag to Ruby. Ruby gets dumped to the outside by Hayter and Britt drapes Ruby off the apron… swinging neckbreaker! Back in the ring, Britt gets a two count and takes us to chinlock city, baybay. Hayter in now and she runs Ruby’s head into the top turnbuckle a few times. Britt choking Ruby with the tag ropes while the referee’s back is turned. Hayter drops Toni Storm from the apron and hits a big body slam on Ruby. Britt back in now as Ruby counters an Irish whip and hits a big Saito suplex. Storm and Hayter are in and Storm cleans house! High angle German suplex to Hayter! Running hip attack in the corner by Storm and a swinging DDT off the bottom rope! Hayter rolls to the outside as Storm looks for another swinging DDT, but Hayter catches her and hits a draping DDT off the apron! Crossbody off the top by Ruby to Hayter! Sling blade by Britt to Ruby! Hayter is rolled back in by her partner to cover Storm, who she gets a two count on. Alabama Slam by Storm to Hayter as Ruby misses a foot stomp off the top. Super kick by Britt Baker! German suplex by Storm to Britt. Big boot by Hayter to Storm! Ruby looks for an STO to Hayter but Hayter counters into a back breaker. Britt is in now and hits a swinging butterfly suplex off the top to Ruby. Ruby reverses into No Future and nails it! Ruby covers but Britt reverses into the Lockjaw! Ruby cradles for a two but Hayter pushes her over and now Lockjaw is in! Ruby cradles again but Britt reverses for a two count. Fisherman’s swinging neckbreaker by Britt! High knee by Ruby and Destination Unknown! That’ll do it.

Winners: Toni Storm & Ruby Soho

Rating: ***1/2. Really fun tag match here with Ruby getting her win back after Sunday. You’re probably looking at the most over women in the AEW women’s division, so I’m interested to see what’s next. Ruby either A) needs to win a title or B) needs to go heel.

Post-match, Hayter blasts Ruby in the face with the Owen Hart title as Britt holds her legs.

Vince Vaughn is here, and so is Macauley Culkin. Moxley chops to start, and Garcia responds with some hard chops of his own. Back. Forth. Back. Forth. Snap mare by Garcia and a kick to Moxley’s back. Moxley is up and Garcia gets in his face, and Moxley promptly drops him with a palm strike. Headbutts by Garcia to Moxley’s forehead, which are covered in stitches. Moxley is now busted open. On the outside now, Garcia puts the steps on Moxley’s knee and dropkicks them! Garcia with some ground and pound on the outside before rolling Moxley in and continuing the barrage. Spinning toe hold by Garcia as he transitions to a figure four. Moxley gets to the ropes but Garcia crotches him on the top turnbuckle. Garcia follows him up and lands a big avalanche back suplex! Moxley is covered in blood here. Moxley is on the outside and Garcia follows. Garcia with a front headlock but Moxley reverses into an X-Plex ON THE CORNER OF THE STEPS. YIKES. Moxley puts Garcia on the top rope and hits a butterfly suplex off the top! Arm trapped, hammer and anvil elbows! Garcia rolls through the rear naked choke attempt and lands some elbows of his own! Garcia with a rolling scissors takedown but Moxley reverses into a cradle for two. Backdrop driver by Moxley! Garcia up, palm strike! Backdrop driver by Garcia! Moxley is up! Piledriver! Two count! Holy cow. The arena is on their feet as Garcia locks in a Sharpshooter! Moxley reaches back and grabs the neck but Garcia cradles for two. Boot by Moxley. Boot by Garcia. Both men are down as Moxley rolls outside! Garcia locks in a rear naked choke on the outside as Moxley takes them through the announcers table. Jericho is now sprinting to the ring! Moxley is ready but Garcia with a cradle from behind that gets two. Kingston is running full speed as he rips Jericho from the apron. Moxley is up and hits a Paradigm Shift! Bulldog choke and Garcia is out!

Rating: ****. Holy cow. What a fight, what a war, and what a win for Jon Moxley. Daniel Garcia is an absolute superstar in the making and they’re all doing everything they can to make him feel special, and it’s working.

Final Thoughts: This was a tale of two hours. The first hour of the show was heavy on storyline, which is important. However, once we hit that ten-man tag, it was all systems go. The MJF promo, the Undisputed Elite match, the women’s tag match, and the main event were all can’t miss. 8.5/10.
