The Evansville, Ind., Journal says: “The question of fi_____ltration which is now under consideration by the board is one of the deepest interest to the city. If the board can see its way clear to give the city pure, clear water it will have performed a task second to none that confronts the administration, and one that will do more to move the city along than any that may be suggested."

A report from Sandusky, Ohio, says that the plans of the Pittsburg Filter Manufacturing company for a 6,000,000-gal. filter plant were submitted to the members of the city council last week. They call for a modern and complete plant, having six units of 1,000.000 gals, each, and giving a superficial area of 360 sq. ft. Water would flow into a well bv gravity from the bay, and then he pumped by centrifugal pumps to the co agulating basin. Here the coagulant chemical, either sulphate of alumina or sulphate of iron and lime, would be introduced, there being three orifices for this, any one of which, or all might he used as the condition of the raw water demands Concrete would be used in the building for tanks, substructure and floors, and the style of architecture of the building would conform to the present pumping station.
