SALYERSVILLE – This is the last week to participate in any of the Magoffin County Community Day fundraisers, with September 20 the deadline for matching funds for those nonprofit groups.
The 18th Annual Magoffin County Community Day is being held virtually, again, this year, due to concerns of the community spread of COVID-19. The Community Foundation encouraged the participating nonprofit groups to hold fundraising events to raise money, with Magoffin County Community Foundation Chair Scotty B. Patrick agreeing to match the funds raised up to $35,000.
People in the community can donate to the Good Giving Campaign by contacting the Salyersville National Bank at 606-349-3131 or by contacting any of the participating nonprofit groups.
For the past 18 years, Magoffin County Community Day has been instrumental in helping local nonprofits and civic groups raise funds for the countless good things they do in the community, raising over $1.3 million in total since it began. Community Day usually brings in approximately $80,000 to $85,000 each year for local nonprofits, many of which depending on to keep operating each year.
A full list of the fundraising events the participating nonprofit groups are holding can be found below and the deadline to donate to these groups (for the money to be eligible for matching) or participate in any of the events is Tuesday, September 20.

District 3 Volunteer Fire Department: Fish Fry – August 15, 2022 At the District 3 Fire Department Dinner includes fish, fries, hush puppies & coleslaw Price: $8 Drink: $1 Take Out Only

Magoffin County Youth Baseball/Softball: TBA North Magoffin Volunteer Fire Department: – 2022 Annual Hog Roast, Soup Bean Dinner & Auction Saturday, September 17, 2022 At the shelter at the top of the Improvement/Rockhouse Hill (Rt. 364) Beside the Rockhouse Liberty Baptist Church Salyersville, KY Serving dinner at 12 p.m. and throughout the evening. Auction will start at 2 p.m. Auction items include home furniture, small kitchen appliances, power tools, hand tools, antiques and much more. Live entertainment starting at 12 p.m. $7 per dinner, 12 & under is free Dinners will include roasted ham & soup bean dinner with beverage. Also having hotdogs, loaded fries, etc. All proceeds go to the North Magoffin Volunteer Fire Department So come out and bring the family and a chair for a fun day and support your local volunteer fire department. And we will be selling donated items by these local businesses, along with yard sales and creative marketing.
