It's no secret gas prices are nauseating and the average in Iowa and Illinois is currently not good. But there are some ways we can save money on gas right now.

With Spring Break coming up and summer vacations planned and booked, we're getting ready to travel a lot. As of today, the gas average for a gallon of regular in the Davenport-Moline-Rock Island area is $3.98, which is up from $3.89 just yesterday. Math on my next trip shows flying would cost just as much as driving it.

Meanwhile, the national average gas price is $4.31, according to the AAA. For perspective, a month ago the national average was $3.47 for a gallon of regular gas. Best wishes to anyone driving diesel vehicles, by the way, since that price has reached 5 bucks a gallon in some places.

Obviously, with the Russian invasion of Ukraine continuing, it doesn't look like gas prices will be going down any time soon.

Gas prices were high when we were coming out of the recession in 2008, but these are record-setting gas prices in the U.S. and it's affecting all of our wallets. Of course, now is the time to get creative with ways to save. Even if you don't have the most fuel-efficient ride, there are still some tweaks you could make to help you save money at the pump. Keep reading on to see some of the ideas you could use to help you have to spend less on gas!
